A couple of hundred years ago, Benjamin Franklin shared with the world the secret of his success. Never leave that till tomorrow, he said, which you can do today. This is the man who discovered electricity. You think more people would listen to what he had to say. I don't know why we put things off, but if I had to guess, I'd have to say it has a lot to do with fear. Fear of failure, fear of rejection, sometimes the fear is just of making a decision, because what if you're wrong? What if you're making a mistake you can't undo? The early bird catches the worm. A stitch in time saves nine. He who hesitates is lost. We can't pretend we hadn't been told. We've all heard the proverbs, heard the philosophers, heard our grandparents warning us about wasted time, heard the damn poets urging us to seize the day. Still sometimes we have to see for ourselves. We have to make our own mistakes. We have to learn our own lessons. We have to sweep today's possibility under tomorrow's rug until we can't anymore. Until we finally understand for ourselves what Benjamin Franklin really meant. That knowing is better than wondering, that waking is better than sleeping, and even the biggest failure, even the worst, beat the hell out of never trying.

Adam's Rib

One day, after a near eternity in the Garden of Eden, Adam calls out to God,

"Lord, I have a problem."
"What's the problem, Adam?", God replies.
"Lord, I know you created me and have provided for me and surrounded me with this beautiful garden and all of these wonderful animals, but I'm just not happy"
"Why is that, Adam?", comes the reply from the heavens.
"Lord, I know you created this place for me, with all this lovely food and all of the beautiful animals, but I am lonely."
"Well Adam, in that case I have the perfect solution. I shall create a 'woman' for you."
"What's a 'woman', Lord?"
"This 'woman' will be the most intelligent, sensitive, caring, and beautiful creature I have ever created. She will be so intelligent that she can figure out what you want before you want it. She will be so sensitive and caring that she will know your every mood and how to make you happy
Her beauty will rival that of the heavens and earth. She will unquestioningly care for your every need and desire. She will be the perfect companion for you.", replies the heavenly voice.
"Sounds great."
"She will be, but this is going to cost you, Adam.""How much will this 'woman' cost me Lord?", Adam replies.
"She'll cost you your right arm, your right leg, an eye, an ear, and your left testicle."

Adam ponders this for some time, with a look of deep thought and concern on his face. Finally Adam says to God, "Ehhh, what can I get for a rib?"

Shannon

     This song by Henry Gross about a Big Red Irish Setter named Shannon.The story goes that Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys fame was suffering with depression.His family and friends could'nt get him out of his bedroom.Then a family friend gave Brian a little Irish Setter Puppy and Brian named him Shannon.
  Shannon's charisma and love got Brian active again. Brian and Shannon would go to the beaches of Southern California daily and play in the surf. Brians life came back on track and he was laughing again and it was all because of Shannon. Until one horrible day when Shannon was carried out to sea and never to be seen again. Brian's heart was broken and he slipped back into depression yet again.This  beautiful song was sung and written by Henry Gross who was a big Beach Boy fan. You can hear that beach boy sound in it.

 Story of Shep

   Shep's owner died in 1936 and Shep followed the man's coffin to the train station in Fort Benton, Montana. Shep hung around the station yard and waited for his owners return for the following six years.Shep checked every train that arrived at the station for his friend and owner.  He was tragically killed in  1942 by a passing train. His story was memorialized in a book titled Forever Faithful.Shep was buried on a bluff, overlooking the train station and railroad track.

Greyfriars Bobby 

Died 14th January 1872  aged 16 years .

  John Gray died on February 8, 1858 in Edinburgh, Scotland, leaving behind a little Skye terrier named Bobby. After the burial, the curator noticed Bobby lying on the fresh mound of dirt. He chased the little dog away, but the next day he was back. He chased him away again .On the third day Bobby was back yet again. Finally, the curator allowed him to stay and for the next fourteen years, Bobby kept constant watch over his owner's grave, rarely leaving except to get a feed.After a while, he came to be known as Greyfriars Bobby, after the cemetery.

Bobby lived for another fourteen years. When he died, he was buried just inside the gate at Greyfriars Kirkyard. His headstone reads, "

Greyfriars Bobby may be gone, but he has not been forgotten. . His story has appeared in book's and two movies the last in 2005 starring Christopher Lee.

    This is a beautiful movie and really worth watching but i don't think its really suitable for under 10's as it does deal with some bad issues but they do it in a really good way. Its also a bit of a tear jerker in the end. I have no idea why people have voted this movies so low as it is very good and very entertaining. The dog i thought was the star of the show, very clever and very cute indeed. It makes me want to look more into the story and the history of Edinburgh. All in all go and see this you wont be disappointed, i wasn't!

Legendary Dog Peritas

       Alexander the Great, created one of the largest empires in history with his beloved dog Peritas by his side. Alexander got Peritas when he was 11 years old. Peritas was rumored to have battled an elephant and brought it to its knees. Peritas greatest loyalty is in the story of how he saved Alexander the Great. According to legend, Peritas defended Alexander when he was trapped by his enemies and his own soldiers were prevented from rescuing him. Leonnatus, who fought with Alexander heard Peritas barking and told the dog to run to Alexander.  The courageous dog ran through the soldiers and lurched at the enemies who had just wounded Alexander with a javelin. Peritas attacked many of the men, allowing Alexanders soldiers to save him. Peritas, as the story goes was wounded too, and did not survive he died with his head on Alexander’s lap. Peritas name lives on forever in the city of Peritas, in India which Alexander the Great named for his beloved dog. The tomb of his dog and a statue depicting Peritas still exists at the entrance to the city. Alexander had many dogs, but Peritas was his favorite.

 Story of Rin Tin Tin

   Rin Tin Tin the luckiest dog in history. When he was found in 1918, Rin Tin Tin was huddled with his mother and four siblings in an abandoned German war trench in France. An American army captain named Lee Duncan found the litter while he was searching an area at the end of World War I. Duncan took two pups and named them both after the dolls French soldiers carried for good luck. Their names were Nanette and Rin Tin Tin. Nanette died not long after, but Rin Tin Tin went on to make movie history.
 His performances in movie after movie kept crowds coming back.
Rin Tin Tin performed most of his own stunts, and starred in pictures from 1922 up until 1931. He was thirteen when he retired from the movie scene. He died in 1932 in the arms of actress Jean Harlow after just playing with his owner Lee Duncan.
